Loyola has gone through some changes and all of them, in my humble opinion, are amazing. We have a cohort of Jesuits, priests and brothers, coming on a regular basis. They are offering retreats, days and evenings of prayer, spiritual direction and of course, the Eucharist. In addition to our priests and brothers we have a religious and lay cohort of directors working tirelessly to bring all closer to God. Each with the unique gift that Ignatian Spirituality has to offer. Each sharing God’s kisses.
One of these gifts, for the past several weeks, is Father Andy. Each Wednesday, we have been blessed to have Father Andy celebrate the Eucharist. He is always joyful. He begins each Mass by reminding us of God’s kisses. Those things that we experience daily, that we forget are gifts from God. The sunshine, the rain, a smile on someone’s face, and of course the Eucharist. At the end of each Mass, Fr. Andy asks us to go out and invite someone to Mass.
Isn’t that what Jesus is asking of us in today’s gospel. He wants us to go and find the one who is lost. Someone who, for whatever reason, has stopped recognizing God’s kisses. Sometimes that someone may be far and that is when we can pray unceasingly for them to find God’s kisses and their way home.
We have all been shepherded in one way or another on our faith journey and today we are asked to do the same. Go find the one, share God’s kisses and invite them home.
