"Ignatian Year Afternoon of Prayer: Holy Conversations with Loyola's Women Spiritual Directors"
THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO ALL (MEN, WOMEN, YOUNG ADULTS)
Saint Benedict and Saint Scholastica. Saint Francis and Saint Clare. Saint Ignatius and ???? Although Saint Ignatius never helped to found a complementary Jesuit religious order for women, women too are celebrating in this Ignatian Year with their own history of 500 years on mission. Come for an afternoon of prayer and 'sacred eavesdropping' as we explore the gift of Ignatius through the lens of women who have been formed by and who are continuing to shape an Ignatian Spirituality in this time and place. Our conversation partners for the afternoon will be five spiritual directors and members of our retreat team at Loyola: Beverly Delleart, Karen Florance, Anna Graziano, Marie Santana, and Judy Schiavo. Fr. Paul Campbell will be guiding the 'interviews' as we share in some of the highlights and blessings of their commitment to Ignatian Spirituality and key touchstones in the life of Ignatius that continue to inspire them.
We will also take a brief, somewhat hidden, historical tour of ways that women were patrons, pupils, and partners with Ignatius as he developed the Exercises and formed the Community.
There will be time for reflection on our own faith journeys as well, a reminder that our individual stories connect us to a larger community where God’s great story is still being written. This afternoon will be an excellent chance for those of you wondering about spiritual direction to ask questions in an informal setting after the program.
We will end the afternoon with time for questions and a reception in our beautiful Loyola gardens.
