NEW MEN’S RETREAT – Sponsored by Christ the King Parish
“Meeting the Living God: Spirituality for the 21st Century”
One can say that the last true revolution in spirituality came with the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola in the sixteenth century. During the past one hundred years our human race has undergone many radical paradigm shifts in our understanding of ourselves and the world we live in, paradigm shifts demanded by medicine, astronomy, paleontology, anthropology, economics, psychology, theology and other fields of science. These paradigm shifts create a certain sense of being dislodged, shaken, losing our anchor, adrift. Our spiritual tectonic plates have shifted creating a new landscape.
Our weekend retreat will help us understand this new landscape in mind and heart with a particular emphasis on accompanying men in the joys and struggles they face to understand the Word of God in our contemporary circumstances and to deepen our call to be co-laborers with Christ for the salvation of this world during our unique time in history. My hope is that we will develop a spiritual skill-set to help us put this new understanding into our daily lives of committed discipleship. This retreat will include the traditional Saturday night Eucharistic prayer experience with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Please join us on this exciting adventure of faith and discovery.
Please Note: While we will not be following the format of the traditional Preached and Directed retreats this weekend, there will be ample opportunity for personal time spent in meditation, walking in our beautiful gardens, participating in the sacrament of Reconciliation and a healing Mass, and sharing in the Sunday Mass together.
