Jesus lovingly told his dear friend Martha who was so anxious and worried about many things that only one thing was necessary. Although the Lord never actually said what that one necessary thing was, I can guarantee you that it has nothing to do with your job or career, nor how many friends you have, not even the good you may do or how faithful you are to these religious.
Our day of reflection will focus on three things, without which all the rest will not make up for their lack. They are prayer, forgiveness and humbly embracing God's will. Unless we seek these things, unless we make time for them, then our spiritual life ceases and without that, everything else collapses, no matter how hard we work. Because without being anchored in the spirit, which is to say, anchored in love then, as Paul told the Corinthians, everything else is useless. If you believe that, then it takes a decision, the decision to surrender to God's love. Don't keep putting it off. To reference Corinthians again, “Now is the favorable time; now is the day of Salvation!”
