There is always a voice we recognize and are drawn to. It might be that of a spouse, a parent, a child, or a sibling. Hearing them call our name is comforting. When my grandson calls out Mema I run right to him. I love to hear his voice, filled with unconditional love, it brings me such joy. I can only image the joy Mary must of felt when she recognized Jesus' voice. She knew it was her beloved teacher.
All four gospel accounts name Mary as one of the first people to see the risen Jesus. She must have been a very special friend to Jesus. The message he gives her to deliver is just as special. 'I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God." How beautiful, Jesus is reminding her, the apostles and us that he we are all brothers and sisters belonging to God the Father.
How blessed were they to see the risen Jesus and how blessed are we to see him, with the eyes of our faith, in those around us.
Happy Easter!
