To love, and be loved - a constant exchange of goodness that we get to take part in as children of God. The most profound and true gift.
Today’s readings remind us of a simple yet profound truth: loving God and loving our neighbor are inseparable. The call of discipleship is one of radical authenticity, and so perfectly modeled by Jesus we’re asked to live the same transparency of purpose. How we treat others—especially the marginalized, and those different from us—reveals the depth of our love for God. If we hold onto indifference or resentment, we fall short of the command to love as God loves.
Jesus’ life shows us what this love looks like in action: feeding the hungry, comforting the brokenhearted, and uplifting the forgotten. His example reminds us that love isn’t just a feeling but a way of living, especially for those in need.
God’s commandments aren’t burdens—they’re life-giving, freeing us to live in harmony with others and with Him. As we begin the New Year, let’s ask ourselves: Who needs my love today? Whether it’s a lonely friend, a struggling family, or an overlooked community, let’s respond with compassion, making this year one of hope, connection, and love in action.
