While we may want to applaud the 5 bridesmaids who had enough oil and admonish the 5 bridesmaids that ran out remember theyallfell asleep while waiting for the bridegroom who was delayed. Also, the so-called wise bridesmaids told the foolish ones to go into town to buy more. In the middle of the night? There weren’t exactly ShopRite’s in that area.
Notice the “wise” ones were not sharing but the foolish made the effort to go and buy some making them late missing the bridegroom.
As you wait for Jesus Christ to come do you grow weary watching the world at war, people starving, children being trafficked and killed. Wondering, “When Jesus will you come again?” Do you become smug tired of being different and often misunderstood for your faith feeling as though you are marching to a different Drummer in a world that often will not “share their oil?”
It seems waiting 2024 years many people have become numbed to the excitement and reality of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and have fallen asleep like the apostles in the garden and the bridesmaids waiting for the Groom. Persevere, do not become complacent, remain faithful, be ready. Reach out to other faithful people to remain strong.
My dear friend used to say, “we don’t have it all together - but together we have it all! Amen!!
